Please Do Not Send Me Your Magic Jack!
Yesterday I received a Magic Jack in the mail. No, I hadn’t ordered one, evidently someone that had visited this site sent me their Magic Jack. No note of explanation, just a copy of the email this person had received when they first ordered the product. There was a number hand-written on that email, perhaps that was the RMA number that is mandatory for returning a magic jack. All I can guess is that this person wanted to return it, but why they thought they should return it to ME, is a little frustrating. On the contact page of this web site (where my mailing address was located), it is clearly stated that I am not affiliated in any way with magicJack, that it is a review and discussion site only of this new voip service.
The worst thing about getting this magic jack in the mail is that if the person was wanting to return it, they’ve most likely lost that chance. There is a very small window of opportunity to return one and get a refund. Since a person only has 30 days from the day that this gadget is ordered, that only gives just about two weeks to try it out, get your RMA number and allow for adequate shipping time. Since I was away on vacation for a couple of weeks, the package was just about to get returned when I picked it up. (It had been sent by certified mail). I would say that it’s pretty certain that this person is now stuck with the magic jack.
So, to prevent something like this ever happening again, I have removed my snail-mail address from my contact page. I really can’t think of a reason that a visitor to this web site would need it, but if so, you can always email me and let me know why you need it. Then if I think it’s a valid reason, I’ll let you know. I always answer my emails, even though most people that email me from this web site are asking questions that I cannot help with, like fixing their payment account for them. That is probably the most asked question I get.
Just to reiterate:
- I do not own magicJack.
- This web site is not affiliated with magicJack in any way.
- Voip2U.org is only a review and discussion site for Magic Jack and other voip phone services.
- The Official website for magicJack is www.magicjack.com
- If you want to return your Magic Jack or if you have problems with your account payment, please visit the Official magicJack website for help with that. As of this writing, there is not a phone number for customer service.
- The link to the customer care page at the official website is: http://www.magicjack.com/1/customercare.asp
And yes, I did return the magic jack to the sender with a note of explanation of what to do if the device was to be returned or exchanged.

Very funny story. Thanks for all that information in your web site. I want to fire my phone company and go with magic Jack, but I’m not too sure now. I don’t know if it’s that wonderful as they say in the comercial.

My Magic Jack stopped working 3 weeks after I renewed the service. I went to Walmart and swapped it out and also bought a AC powered USB Hub when I got home there was still no dial tone. I can make calls with the softpad but not a telephone. I have two computers and two testing phones with a brand new MJ and a new AC powered USB hub. Any Suggestions would be great. Thanks
