Concerned About A Magic Jack Scam?
A Magic Jack voip phone seems like the ideal solution for anyone who needs an inexpensive option for a phone line, but some people are concerned that Magic Jack is a scam. The device you will receive plugs into any USB port on your computer and then into your home phone, allowing you to make or receive calls through your high speed internet. There aren’t high monthly fees like a telecommunications company would charge and it is supposed to give you the same level and quality of communication as a traditional phone line. The device is not expensive to buy so why wouldn’t more people use it?
Perhaps it is because people are concerned that it is a Magic Jack scam, They think that it won’t work or that there has to be some sort of catch to using this. The company offers a 30 day risk-free trial for those who are interested in trying it out but are concerned about wasting money. Many people have used audio connections that run over the internet and feel that the quality is not that great. Others are concerned that there will be hidden charges to using the device and therefore do not even want to risk a free trial.
Fortunately, those who are worried about Magic Jack problems, can rest assured that it is a legitimate piece of equipment. Not only is it not a scam, there are some great benefits to using a this device. For starters, it has a free 411 directory. This can save a lot of money if you end up using this service frequently. Plus, your telephone number won’t be listed in a phone book. This is a privacy issue for many people and one that does not need to be a concern. One of the biggest reasons people are afraid to use a service like this is that they are worried that 911 calls can not be made. You will still be able to make these types of calls.
If you can get over the idea of this being a scam, then this may be the perfect way for you to save money while still having all of the benefits as a regular phone line. In addition to the benefits of 411 and 911 phone calls, you can relax each month knowing that you won’t be facing huge phone bills that increase dramatically each time you make a long-distance telephone call.

I have had a Magic Jack for 3 years and they just renewed by taking money out of my checking account and now my phone doesn’t work. This is definitely a scam. When you call my number now it says to sign up with you. Why so you can take more money and then disappear. Now when I try to go to MagicJack.com it says the link is broken. WARNING TO EVERYONE-SCAM

I made the mistake of ordering a five year plan a year or more ago. My phone cuts off, has poor reception when it is working and is often down. It usually takes a two to three hour chat for the techs to come in take over my computer and make all kinds of adjustments. then it only last a short while. Meanwhile they come out with this Magic Jack Plus, where the advertisement has taken over the MagicJack homepage and there is no link for help nor chats, nor getting back to where I need to go. Who has designed the internet screens for MagicJack? What’s with coming up with all these new technological products without any research and refinement of what got you here. I know I am nat talking to the MagicJack People, but If I COULD, I would tell them I don;t want magicTalk with its funny unrememorable digital phone numbers, take that and MagicJackPlus out of my life. I would just like to have a good working version of WHAT I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR. Didn’t that include upgrades? or will the technology I bought be phased out before the end of my contractural term? Come on Magic Jack, up grade or at least upgrade the status of your customers.,!!! Who’s with me and how can we get our phone company to act in our behalf? any ideas or feelings as strong as mine?

A magic jack is a dongle that plugs into your computer’s USB port and essentially lets you plug a phone into the dongle, so it uses your computer’s internet connection to do phone calls through.

My daughter gave me a regular magic jack for Christmas and on 01/09 she tried to plug it on my computer and did but realized that I could not leave my computer on all day and at my age I needed to hear the phone so I wwwho had just emailed my payment of $20.95 to Magic Jack, listened to my daughter who emailed your co. right away canceling the phone order with you so she could get me a magic jack plus instead. I Told you to stop payment since I no longer have a magic jack. That same night night I received an email from your co. notifying that They received my notice. Well, Best Buy is out of them and don’t know when their shipment will be here. That is not the real problem right now. I got my checking account mail notifying me that YOUR EMPLOYEE TOOK THE MONEY OUT OF MY ACCOUNT EVEN THO HE KNEW THAT IN 10 DAYS I WOULD BE WITHOT A PHONE> I AM 75 AND IN POOR HEALTH AND ON SOCIAL SECURITY I would like that young man to call century Link informing them I need my phone and I want My $20.95 RETURNED. I did not want to believe those persons that said you were a scam outfit but now I am not sure. My phone # is 1-239-566-2762. Please take care of this now.

So it seems this software is no longer supported. After paying for an international number and using the app for a year, they turned it off. I contacted support and they said I was out of luck. Magicjack support sucks, and they pull the rug out from under their customers even when they pay for the service. If I wasn’t lazy I would sue them for fraud.

Dan, HELP, trying to get a “parked” number ported to my Magicjack, seems the company I originally parked the number with (years ago) went into bankruptcy and was acquired by another company, need help. Customer service/Magicjack was no help as they are as lost as I am with this problem.
