magicJack International Calling

A lot of people are astonished to find out just how great of a deal this phone service really is. Why is that? Well guess what: there are no international fees or bills to pay when you dial internationally to a magicJack phone in another country from your magicJack phone in the United States. In fact, even if you use it from a foreign country to dial back to a number in the US, it is still free. Of course, you have to pay your annual normal subscription fee, but you already knew this. In fact, that is really all you have to pay for with this new voip phone, and the price of the device is included in that initial cost. That is the reason why so many people have gravitated over to this wonderful innovation for their international calling from the more traditional land lines and even cellular phones.

Just in case you don’t believe me, or you think the truth about magicJack international calling must be more complex (or “fine printed”) than what I am explaining here, take a look at this exact quote from the official website:

“Call any person on their magicJack number in any country and the call is free. Call back to the US from another country with your magicJack and it’s free. Or, to dial directly from your magicJack number to an international number, registered magicJack users can purchase international minutes by logging in to their account at http://my.magicjack.com.”

That should put even the biggest doubters and skeptics fears to rest. The fact is that there is simply no better deal in the world than this international calling plan. I mean, who can do better than zero dollars and zero cents over the whole lifetime of the product?

In the end, it must be left up to the individual to determine whether they feel this magicjack international calling plan is quite right for them. Of course, some people avoid it because they are not so computer-friendly. While this may be a valid reason to stay away, I don’t think it is a very rational one. All you need is a decent Internet connection and once installed (easy as pie installation by the way), then you will be up and running and using your old, normal phone that you are already used to make international calls in the exact same way as you always did… except there will be no charge whatsoever!

I’m trying to use my MJ (both calling and being called from the US) from Argentina but whomever is the recipient of the call hears so much static that it is impossible to continue the conversation.

What’s weird about this issue is that for the first few weeks that I used it here, it worked perfectly. Then it started producing static at first only with calls to 1-800 numbers, then with calls to area codes other than that of my MJ number, and now in every call.

By the way, my roommate is able to use Skype with no problem on the same network…so it is not my broadband connection. Further, it is not the telephone I’m using as I’ve tried a half dozen different ones…all with the same result.

So my question is this: Should I trash the MJ and write off the cost as a lesson learned? Or is there a solution…or even a plausible explanation?
