Solving MagicJack Problems
Luckily, this voip phone service has been designed in such a way, and has evolved so well over time, that there are virtually no major problems that one can expect to have to deal with in using this wonderful, innovative, technological device which is evolving our society as we sit here and speak. Nevertheless, on occasion things may come up which is why I am writing this article on solving MagicJack problems. We will not get into the nittiest and grittiest details as at a certain level it is a much better idea to deal directly with customer support at the official website itself. (Or at least have the neighborhood tech guru have a firsthand experiential look.)
First of all, one of the first things you should always do when experiencing problems with your device is to look into your computer. I don’t mean figuratively; I just mean that you should run through the following diagnostic tests. Try restarting your computer at least once every week. This is always the first thing I recommend to people to help them in solving MagicJack problems (or any other computer problem). I restart mine at least once a week, and even more than that sometimes.
You should also try to defrag and backup your computer’s hard drive about once monthly. Some people would do it even more often, so it’s kind of a personal thing. I just state “once a month” as sort of a minimum. Remember that memory problems are often to blame in MagicJack malfunctioning experiences, so defragging is a definite help in solving problems quickly and easily.
One also should take into consideration that they may want to unplug and replug the actual USB device. This is simple and often overlooked. People tend to think that if it’s plugged in and the light (if applicable) is on, then everything must be okay. In fact, lots of little random problems can come up in tiny physical ways. That is why the company itself recommends to plug and unplug the device at least once a month.
Those few simple techniques have been known to knock out a good percentage of issues. It can be just that easy to implement when solving MagicJack problems, despite what the skeptics may tell you. Remember that it’s not always necessarily a problem with the device itself: it can just as well be with your computer even though it appears to be working fine.

I recently was able to change the credit card number that was used to start my license. The transaction was done while I was in the hospital. I kept hitting a roadblock due to not having all the codes or service info. A couple hours ago I found my way in to my account and changed the card to be used Jan.13th to renew my license. I then checked my account to find that your company had already put the fee through within 30 minutes of my success. Your company had all my info. for my account and all I wanted was the use of my card to pay for my phone number on the 13th. Do you call this customer service for your product? I want an answer from your company and I’d like it today. I spent a week trying to change my account so it would be paid on time. You’ve got my e-mail addy, so there’s no excuse to ignore my demand.

My 1 year MagicJackPhone service began January 13th, 2009 by my daughter while I was in the hospital. I had no information from this transaction and needed to renew my license with my personal account numbers. I have worked almost 2 weeks to try and find my info. from last year. Since I’m not technically savvy, this was quite a feat for me. Your company has no phone techs which I feel is a poor business tactic. It’s like you don’t want to help your customers fix their phone connections. So, I finally changed the info. for my phone number and within 30 minutes you charged my account for the renewal. This has caused me great stress because it’s 3 days ahead of my new yearly contract. I believe you owe me an apology today and a promise that my phone number will stay active until next January 13th. Sometime ago when I fired up my magic jack, I got a message that I am lucky and thereafter an upgrade/update was in progress as stated.
Since then I have been getting the message below intermitently and thereby magic jack will close and I have to re-start it.
“magicJack USB Softphone has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

Since installing Magic Jack , I have been having nothing but trouble . Whe I initiate a topic search on say , GOOGLE , I get the usual list of responses & this is where the trouble starts . If I click on one of the responses , I get something completely different & with no relation to the question asked . If on the other hand , I click on the URL under the query reponse & cut & paste it to the address bar , I get the site OK . The odd first response ( to a strange site ) connects me to an alien reply from CHINA which ( fortunately ) is blocked by my Firewall .What is going on ?

On my Jan 21 posting, I mentioned getting this message, intermittently.
“magicJack USB Softphone has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
Now I only get it every after making a call. Does that mean I am making progress?
